Mel went into labour at Joe's New Year's Eve Party which meant we didn't quite see out 2001 as planned.  We rushed to the hospital from Avalon (about an hour away) seeing the 9pm fireworks on the bridge on the way.  Sam was born at 0609 AEST on 01.01.2002 at the Mater Hospital in North Sydney.  Stats were 3.2kg (just over 7 pounds in the old scale), 53 cm long and 34 cm head circumference.
